3 personality tests to take if you want to achieve more success

How well do you know yourself? Self-awareness is key on the pursuit of success. One of the easiest ways to be successful is to maximise your strengths! But working out what your strengths are can be difficult. Thankfully there is an ever-growing list of personality tests that can help you uncover your strengths. Then it is up to you what you do with that knowledge.

Here are 3 personality tests that you can try out.

Myers-Brigg

Have you ever heard someone describe themselves with 4 letters, such as INFP? If so, then you have already been exposed to Myers Briggs. Myers-Briggs identifies your preferences based on four dichotomies:

Favourite world: Extraversion or Introversion

Information: Sensing or Intuition

Decisions: Thinking or Feeling

Structure: Judging or Perceiving

Each four letter combination has a “title” and then a description.

Belbin

This is a great test for anyone to take if you are working in a team, leading a team or building a team. Whilst you may think a like-minded team is the best way to succeed, research has shown that a diverse team, with different strengths, actually makes a higher performing team.

The Belbin model helps you understand how you best perform in a team. A person can usually be described as 2 or 3 of the 9 possible roles:

  • Shaper
  • Implementer
  • Completer Finisher
  • Plant
  • Monitor Evaluator
  • Specialist
  • Resource Investigator
  • Teamworker
  • Co-ordinator

DISC profile

The DISC profile was developed by psychologist William Moulton Marston. Similar to Myers-Briggs, you are being assessed against four categories:

  • Dominance
  • Influence
  • Steadiness
  • Conscientiousness

You can take the DISC profile test over on Tony Robbins website by clicking here.

That’s it!

3 of the many personality tests you can take. Now the aim isn’t to take all of these tests and do nothing with it. It is better to just take one test and then really think about how the work you does matches your natural preferences. If they align that is great news! If they don’t then you need to think if there are ways you can be more aligned in the future.

Finding work that supports your natural way of working is going to make your life so much easier, which in turn will help you to excel!

I would love to know in the comments below your results from any of the tests, or if there is another test you swear by.
