Can you believe that it is JULY!! Where has half of the year gone?

The beginning of July is a perfect time to check-in on your annual goals, but if you are watching this video at another time of year all of the principles will still work.

STEP 1 – Review your goals

First thing you need to do is review your goals. That means you need to find out those goals. Now maybe you wrote them on the 1st January and you haven’t looked at them since or maybe you have been writing them down every morning like a good girl. Either way, dig them out or write them down and then review your progress.

1 = Achieved

2 = Started taking action and on track

3 = Started taking action and not on track

4 = Not started

For everything that has a 1 – congratulations. I hope you celebrated achieving that goal and if you haven’t then now is the time.

For everything that has a 2 – well done. Now you need to plot out what actions you need to take going forward and if there are any milestones make sure you write those down too.

For everything that has a 3 – ask yourself why you aren’t on track. Have you been holding yourself back? Did it fall off your list? Being aware why you are behind is important before you move forward. Then you need to work out how you will proceed. Is your deadline still achievable or does it need to be changed? Do you have an action plan for going forward?

For everything that has a 4 – you have a choice is it a goal you still want to pursue or are you going to cross it off your list. If you are not sure whether you need to cross it off your list then check out Why you need to give up some of your goals in order to achieve more success’. If you decide you want to keep the goal then set a new realistic deadline and then get action planning and milestone setting.

STEP 2 – Add new goals (if necessary)

A lot can change in 6 months. Maybe there is something else that is important to you now that wasn’t 6 months ago. Or maybe you have achieved all of your goals and need to set new ones. Either way, this would be the time to write your new goals down and if you need help ensuring they are SMART goals then check out ‘How to set goals using the SMART method’.

STEP 3: Look at your calendar

In your calendar for the next 6 months have you blocked in time for when you will be working towards your goals? Have you added your milestones in so it is super easy for you to stay on track? Have you also marked in time for when you will be looking after you – that could be blocking in your holidays,self-care days, seeing friends and family or simply no work days. Remember looking after yourself and giving yourself time to switch off is key for your long-term success.

STEP 4: Find someone to hold you accountable

Don’t trust yourself to hold yourself accountable. Even if you pride yourself on sticking to your goals (as I do) accountability will take you to the next level. Whether you get a coach, join a mastermind or find an accountability partner make sure there is someone else in the world who knows what you want to achieve and will check in with you.

If you follow those four steps that you will putting yourself in a great place to achieve your goals by the end of the year. Remember the main thing about goal setting is to set goals, remember your goals and take action. If you need more support with your goal setting then download the ‘Goaldigger Guide’.
