Christmas is fast approaching and that means, for most, a few extra days off work. For me it means quality time with friends and family, which is super important. I intend on ensuring that both my ‘experiencing self’ and ‘remembering self’ (remember those bad boys from Thinking, Fast and Slow) are fulfilled and I have an awesome time.
Here are my top tips for living in the moment.
-
Give your full attention to what you are doing!
If you have to work during the festive season, then give it your best. Keep minimal screens open, work out the core tasks for the day and do them. Then if you get some time with friends or family, put the phone anyway and actively participate in the conversation or activity.

Don’t get stressed
For some this season can be stressful. Dinner isn’t perfect, you didn’t get your Christmas cards out in time or your forget that your friend had a baby this year and you needed to buy a present. Life isn’t perfect, so accept it. Try to enjoy a moment and if something goes wrong, deal with it with grace.

Gratitude
This is a time of the year to be thankful. You might not have a tree bursting full of presents, you might not even have a tree. You might even have to work. However, if you are reading this email I can guarantee you have things in your life to be grateful for. Take a moment to think about how great your life is and how grateful you are that you get to experience it everyday.
