On Monday 4th December 2023 PropelHer’s Book Club discussed Flip Thinking: The Life-Changing Art of Turning Problems into Opportunities by Berthold Gunster.
(This book was gifted to the Founder of PropelHer’s Book Club by Ebury).
In this summary of Flip Thinking by Berthold Gunster I’ll be briefly summarising the book to help you to make a decision about whether you should buy a copy of the book for yourself.
Flip Thinking is split into three parts: The Luggage, The Journey and Finally.
Part 1: The Luggage covers the process of turning a problem into an opportunity. This involves you first deconstructing the problem into a fact, and then reconstructing the fact into an opportunity. It also covers the four questions you need to ask yourself before you attempt to flip-think something.
Then in Part 2 of the book, The Journey, Bethold shares the 15 flip thinking strategies. The strategies are group into four categories: love, work, battle and play. The categories are based around the attitude of the strategy. There is a chapter for each strategy there is an explanation of how the strategy works, examples of how the strategy has been used, and sometimes there will be comparisons with other strategies to help you decide when one strategy is more appropriate to use than another.
The book ends with a very third small part, Finally. This part has a summary of the 15 strategies (very handy to be able to refer back to) and then some final thoughts for the reader.
That’s it! You now have an idea about what you can expect to find inside of Flip Thinking: The Life-Changing Art of Turning Problems into Opportunities by Berthold Gunster.
