Now one of the downsides of being ambitious is you probably have super high standards for yourself and think you are Wonderwoman. This probably means you have so many things you feel like you should be doing and this can result in you being overwhelmed.

Feeling overwhelmed is useless. In most cases, it results in you doing nothing and therefore making the ongoing situation worse. So here are my top tips for dealing with overwhelm.

1 – GET IT OUT OF YOUR HEAD

There is nothing worse than having everything running round your head. So you need to get everything out of your head and somewhere that you can look at it. I want you to write down EVERYTHING that you are thinking that you have to do at the moment. Go grab a pen and paper and right now write everything down before you move onto the next steps.

2 – IDENTIFY WHAT IS IN YOUR CONTROL?

Often some of the things we are worrying about aren’t even in our control so it is pointless stressing about them. Go through the list and make sure everything is in your control. If it isn’t cross it out.

3 – IS THERE ANYTHING THAT ISN’T REALLY NECESSARY?

As I said before I know you think you are WonderWoman and as a result you are trying to take on the world but do you need to? For years, I kept on obsessing with the fact I needed to learn German (I had studied it to A’Level and was gutted I had let it slip), but the truth is after 4 years of saying I was going to do it, I hadn’t and that was because it wasn’t necessary. If you are overwhelmed you clearly on have time for necessary right now, so cross off everything that isn’t necessary.

4 – Is there anything you can delegate?

Maybe you have to do everything yourself, but maybe you don’t. Stop thinking you have to do everything and ask if someone else can help where applicable.

5 – Identify some quick wins

A quick win is something you can complete quickly or easily. If your list has quick wins on it then do then now. The feeling of completing something with help change your mood. You will feel accomplished and it should help you move into a pattern of action, which in turn will reduce overwhelm.

That’s it! 5 steps to help you overcome feeling overwhelmed.
